Here some tidbits from the pages of paper created to inform the 2007 city budget process.
- Comparison of tax increase with the rate of inflation (1997-2006)
- Commitment from your Council to keep major industry tax increases to 1% max during until 2008. (from press release Apr 26, 2006)
- Citizen satisfaction survey results that indicate Kamloopsians would rather see an increase in taxes than a decrease in service.
Arjun,
That was a great meeting you held the other day at Cowboy Coffee.
I had to get my kid home before the actual city budget meeting, but was very glad to have had the pre-budget meeting experience. A great environment. I learned from everyone's questions and just really enjoyed another example of democracy.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you mentioned there something about water costs potentially being based on lot size. I hope that won't be so --I am already taxed higher on that basis-- and I have transitioned 1/3 of the grass to mulch and continuing to do more to reduce (and, in many areas, eliminate) watering.
Current City policies limit how much incentive is available to a recycler --I hope this won't hold true on the water count as well.
