Yesterday, the most impressive sports and recreation facility I have ever seen opened. The Tournament Capital Centre, formerly known in construction as the Hillside Fieldhouse, saw a few hundred people come out yesterday to listen to speeches, take tours / participate in demos, and eat free burgers and hotdogs. Besides an opening ceremony I thought went on a little long, the whole thing had the feel of a homey community get together. I had a good time.
The Kamloops City Watch blog is pretty critical of the opening ceremony and the staffing of the pool for the event.
