I love Facebook and I use it nearly every day personally, professionally, and in my public service. The problem with Facebook for a Kamloopsian is that there is no Facebook network for Kamloops. When you look for one, Facebook only offers the opportunity to sign up for the Kelowna netowrk. Here is a screenshot:
I know Facebook will probably get a Kamloops network soon. But, the sooner the better. There are thousands of people here who use Facebook - and not just young people. Having our own network will give us access to the full range of Facebook features.
So I am please Council has unanimously supported a letter to Facebook to request a Kamloops network as soon as possible.
I can understand. We have no network as yet in Windsor, Ontario. Our only choice is to join Detroit, London or no network. This from a city with over 200,000 residents. I'd be interested in seeing if our City Council would agree to sending a letter like your's did. Congratulations for being forward looking.

Thank you Arjun, not just for this push to get Kamloops a network of it's own on Facebook, but for all the fresh and innovative ideas that you bring to council. I know that there is often a cost to going against established, mainstream thinking, but I truly believe you have a lot of support in this community and I hope that you will continue the great work and fresh approach you've brought to the process thus far.
