I spent a couple of hours today visiting stores at the Columbia Place and Columbia Square shopping centres. I never realized these were two separate entities - the Save on foods side being Columbia Place and the Office Depot side being Columbia Square.
I'm publishing a neighbourhood newsletter for Lower Sahali and I was passing out information to the shopping centre merchants about the newsletter and about sponsorship opportunities.
I had quite positive response overall but, on the Columbia Square side, I had a few merchants all in a row who said they were not really interested. Some of them seemed a little surly. I appreciated their candour and also wondered whether there was something different about their side of the complex.
I wondered if the side with Save On does better generally speaking.
Maybe Save On's large and consistent customer base helps the store's neighbours as well?
Maybe I just caught people at a bad time?
I would say "yes" - on the Square side of things, the only real "draws" for myself are the TD bank, Boston Pizza, and the Summit Medical Clinic. And these are places I attend from time-to-time at best.
On the Place side, I am in SaveOn foods and the BC Liquor Store nearly every day. Shoppers Drug Mart, XS Cargo, Starbucks and Earls`s I find myself in usually at least once a week.
