Chief Shane Gottfriedson takes the oath of office at Moccasin Square Gardens.
As my dear brother, someone I look up to in a big way, Councillor Fred Seymour said this evening, "we are all family". I relish opportunities to spend time with my Tk'emlups Indian Band family. They remind me of the incredible value of caring for each other, of plain speaking, of community service, and of humour. There are still way too many bad days for aboriginal people across Canada. This was an amazing day, an amazing evening. I felt very honoured to be invited, with the rest of Kamloops Council, to installation of the new Chief and Council and the great feast after all the oaths were sworn.
Heartfelt congratulations to Chief Shane Gottfriedson (now in his 4th term as Chief) and to Councillors Colleen Mosterd-Mclean, Richard Jules, Edward Jensen, Jeanette Jules, Roseanne Casimir, and Katy Gottfriedson.
Also huge thanks and congratulations to outgoing Councillors Evelyn Camille, Connie Leonard, Gorge Casimir, and Dolan Paul. You all did amazing work!
